Brunetta: "Stop useless certificates, even anti-mafia ones"

“No more Durc, no more anti-mafia certificates. Enough packs of certificates to participate in competitions”. With these Renato Brunetta today inaugurated his new crusade against bureaucratic hypertrophy. In the crosshairs this time there are the "useless" certificates, which according to the Minister of Public Administration should be completely eliminated and replaced with self-certifications. As for the certifications issued by the Public Administration, they will remain valid only in relationships between private individuals. The measures will be contained in the development decree that the government is preparing in these days.

“One of the vitamins for growth is simplification – argued Brunetta -. Why do families and businesses have to provide certificates to the Public Administration which already has them at home?”. Eliminating them would therefore be a "zero-cost reform". It is a pity that in the cauldron of "useless" pieces of paper, in addition to the Single Document of Contribution Regularity, the minister also inserts the anti-mafia certifications, considered by many to be decisive tools in the fight against organized crime.

"Here are the ideas of the Berlusconi Executive for growth: less legality for everyone," commented the vice president of the Pd deputies, Michele Ventura.

The national anti-mafia prosecutor, Piero Grasso, does not hide a certain perplexity: "Minister Brunetta is always very original - he said - The anti-mafia code has recently been approved, which among other things regulates all anti-mafia certification in a very rigorous way . If the minister had some observations to make, he could make them in the Council of Ministers ”.

To the opposition, the minister replied that "the certainty of the data will not decrease but will, if anything, be strengthened: instead of asking the individual entrepreneur to act as a messenger between the administrations, it will in fact be the latter who obtain the required documentation directly from the competent offices".

This morning Brunetta also suggested that the State “sell, sell, sell all the dead capital that unfortunately still exists in our country, from public assets, movable and real estate, houses, barracks. Selling everything that is not needed and is not strategic to invest in communication and simplification". Italy should get rid of all "public assets that do not produce wealth, let's think of public utilities: electricity, water, gas, transport, garbage, all those companies that are 99% owned by local authorities and which are often inefficient" .
