Brignone, champion in skiing and in life: Banca Generali has been a sponsor for 10 years

Italian skiing hasn't seen a result like this since the days of Alberto Tomba: Federico Brignone he won the Alpine Skiing World Cup, the first blue to reach a goal that until a few months ago seemed like an impossible dream. Brignone's feat was not even achieved by the legend of Deborah Compagnoni and which is accompanied by another impressive series of hard-to-beat records: the highest number of points ever scored in the World Cup by an Italian skier, the podium record in a single season and two specialty "cups" (combined and giant) which add up to a palmares that already boasted a world silver and an Olympic bronze.

At 29, Federica Brignone is in the prime of her sporting maturity and enters by right in the very small circle of the strongest Italian skiers of all time. The secret of his success? Perseverance, her talent and a working group made up of trusted people who accompany her on and off the ski slopes. Next to Federica there are in fact the inseparable brother Davide, mother Ninna Quario (former skier with 4 World Cup victories in the XNUMXs), the manager Giulia Mancini and her historic personal sponsor, Banca Generali, which has been following it on the slopes all over the world for over 10 years.

“What Federica has achieved this year is a result that will remain in the history not only of skiing, but of all blue sport – comments Michele Seghizzi, marketing and external relations director of Banca Generali – We have known Federica since she faced the first competitions of the World Cup and we are really happy that this year he has reached these extraordinary goals expressing his fantastic talent to the fullest. For us who have been accompanying her in the circuit races for 10 years, this victory fills us with joy because for us Fede has always been much more than a testimonial, but now a friend of the bank and a part of us herself”.

Yes, because Federica is a champion even off the slopes. Together with his manager and the photographer Giuseppe La Spada, Federica has given life to Liquid Trajectories: a photographic project to denounce the serious state of plastic pollution of our seas and waterways. A project to which the champion dedicates her free time, trying to get her message across to those very young people who see her as a myth and whom she instead involves in long days cleaning the beaches.

“Fede is very sensitive and cares deeply about this battle in favor of the environment which he faces without rhetoric but with concrete commitment and enthusiasm, both when he is personally involved in cleaning the beaches and in the initiative of the photographic exhibition that we have supported in many of our branches around Italy, or in projects to raise awareness of children on the subject as in the meeting we held after the splendid victory in Sestriere in January" continues Seghizzi..

Brignone's path, however, was not all downhill. Yes because the daughter of art he even risked quitting. It happened in 2012 when, after having conquered a world silver medal at the age of 21, she decided to have an operation to remove an annoying malleolus cyst that did not allow her to ski properly. Her recovery was long and she took her to miss the whole season but her, when she returned, her caution proved to be spot on. Solden 2015 represented the stage of consecration: The first World Cup victory was soon followed by a five-year period of impressive success, leading up to the magical 2019-20 season.
