La Brexit weighs less than expected on the British economy. In the third quarter, the first since the outcome of the referendum on leaving the European Union on June 24, the GDP of Great Britain scored a 0,5% growth compared to the previous three months, exceeding the expectations of analysts, who expected a more limited increase of +0,3%.
In the second quarter, GDP growth was 0,7%. It is, therefore, a slowdown, but milder than estimated. According to the economist Joe Grice of the British National Institute of Statistics, there is "little evidence of a marked effect in the immediate period following the vote".
