Clouds are accumulating on the horizon of Mayor Laura Castelletti's new council of Brescia: heaps and clouds bearing very different interests, often conflicting and above all supported in expectations and demands by excessive requests compared to the volumetric and building needs of the City. The queue of concession applicants, enticed by the electoral result, coaxed but kept at stake by theformer mayor Emilio Del Bono “we'll see in due time”, he has no intention of staying long in the waiting room. Today that time is up and Laura Castelletti will have to go down to the arena, decide the priority, evaluate the real benefits for the community, without deluding ourselves of dilating the times into long postponements, if not suffering the risk of being torn to pieces in the urban planning cage.
Freccia Rossa waiting and the Museo del Lavoro lost in the mists
In a good position is the request for the renovation of the large private hospital complex of the Fatebenefratelli, abandoned for a few years which insists in the heart of the city centre. On acceleration comes the reuse of the Freccia Rossa complex, empty and looming, in the central ring of via Ugoni and the station. In this case, the direction is entrusted to the architect Ettore Fermi and the operational initiative to the Fund that owns the building, taking over the numerous interests of Antonio Taini. With the Freccia Rossa we should see the resumption of the work left in half by the Basileus of Taini in the neighboring former industrial areas, those that extend for hundreds of thousands of square meters up to the southern wall of the Vantiniano monumental cemetery. We will again see the flag of a politician waving Labor Museum to insert in those precious areas. An ancient promise waved for at least thirty years. A Museum that has never been started, now obsolete as a historical and cultural proposal, certainly out of control in terms of costs and management. We will perhaps see Leonardo Benevolo's dream of a new large, monumental building re-emerge alongside the Museum south entrance to the cemetery citizen.
Dreams and new utopias for building purposes only
He also shows up in the urban planning waiting room Joseph Taini, now enchanted by the Renzian verb, ready with his Draco to get on the urban carousel too where the large areas of the former Pietra, at the time a very rich part of the Anselmi real estate empire, are pressing for their valorisation. The state-owned spaces of the three large abandoned city barracks are also waiting. Thousands of square meters to be exploited in the face of a now measured demand and available volumes, empty or underutilized for years. Think of the entire trade fair complex. Nonetheless, dreams and new utopias are aroused for building purposes only, such as the project of a "Citadel of Innovation"; urgencies and health needs are underlined that public medicine is no longer able to support as the announcement of a Private Emergency Department (sic!) for a fee, defined as a Brescian record. Last but not least, the ambitions of wanting to build a new one after having demolished it cable car from Bornata to Maddalena, the mountain of the City. We begin to understand why a list with the Maddalena logo has taken the field in support of Castelletti. Now we go to the collection with a small detail. For the construction works and the control and assistance services, the current building restriction will have to be moved upwards by at least two hundred metres.
Those who do not announce but work concretely are others. In the face of the millions of euros that could accrue in the short term from the city's urban planning, new investors have gathered in a Fund who have taken over the non-performing loans of the former Brescia banks, among which those represented by the above areas and related properties are huge . Among these new entrepreneurs, the lioness Laura Castelletti will find the guarantor sentinels of her five-year administrative period but also the warders of her cage.
