Brembo plays the Argentinian card: it acquires Perdriel

Another Made in Italy company expands in South America. Brembo Spa, a manufacturer of braking systems for vehicles specializing in the high-performance motorcycle and car sectors, today signed an agreement to purchase Perdriel, an Argentinian company that produces brake discs.
The agreement provides for the Italian company, supplier of Fiat and Ferrari, to acquire 75% of the capital of Perdriel in July with an option right on the remaining 25%, exercisable starting from the next three years: all for a value of 3,3 million euros.
The Perdriel group occupies an important position in the automotive components sector in Argentina: it employs around 150 people and its expected turnover in 2011 is around 20 million euros.
As for the Bombassei-based group, the figures for the last quarter confirm a strong growth trend, with revenues amounting to 312,2 million euros, an increase of 27,9% compared to the previous quarter.
The South American market, where the Italian company has been present for about five years, is considered strategic, above all due to the great growth of the Brazilian market. Brembo do Brasil's turnover increased by 24,5% in the last quarter. Argentina therefore represents the beginning of a new expansion on the continent.
