Brembo: 74 million euros for a new foundry in Michigan

Alberto Bombassei's company focuses on the USA and invests 74 million euros for the construction of a cast iron foundry in Michigan, in an area adjacent to the new Homer factories: the factory will have an area of ​​approximately 30 square metres, with a annual smelting capacity of 80 tons – There will be 250 new employees.

Brembo focuses on the potential of the largest automotive market in the world, that of the United States. The manufacturer of braking systems for cars and motorcycles will in fact invest 100 million dollars (74 million euros) in a new foundry in Michigan, near the Homer headquarters. The plant will cover an area of ​​30 square meters, will have a smelting capacity of 80 tons and will employ 250 people at the Homer and Plymouth plants. 

Brembo's chairman, Alberto Bombassei, declared that “following the construction of the American headquarters and research center in Plymouth in 2010, and two months after the inauguration of the expansion of the Homer plant, another significant investment, which strengthens the link between Brembo and the United States, one of the most important automotive markets in the world”.

Bombassei then underlined that "the growing diffusion of global platforms among vehicle manufacturers pushes them to seek the best possible integration between the various phases of the value chain, replicating the production model adopted for some time in Italy, and more recently in Poland and China".

The foundations for an investment of this magnitude will be ensured by the resources obtained through the generation of the group's cash flow and those guaranteed by incentives promoted by the State of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
