Bpm: the new CEO is Davide Croff

The Milanese institute has appointed Piero Montani's successor to the chair of managing director: until now there had been talk of Giuseppe Castagna, but in the end it was Davide Croff who obtained the position.

Twist at the top of bpm. After the resignation of Piero Montani, moved to Banca Carige, the Milanese institute has appointed his successor to the chair of managing Director: so far we had talked about Giuseppe Castagna, but in the end it was he who got the job David Croff.

“The managing director Piero Luigi Montani has resigned from his office with immediate effect for just cause, setting out the reasons in a confidential letter – reads a note from Banca Popolare di Milano -. The Management Board of Bpm has therefore acknowledged of Montani's resignation and, pending the reinstatement of the board itself which, pursuant to the current Articles of Association must take place without delay by the Supervisory Board, has appointed Davide Croff as managing director”.

Lastly, the Management Board "deems it essential that the Supervisory Board adopts, in compliance with its responsibilities, the provisions following the resignation of Piero Luigi Montani and necessary to give stability to the Bank's management, so that the latter can continue, in an appropriate time horizon and as required by the market, in the process of relaunching the Bank and implement the capital increase approved by the extraordinary shareholders' meeting of 22 June last”.

Yesterday, according to some rumors, Castagna would have met Giuseppe Coppini, chairman of the supervisory board of Bpm, setting certain conditions for accepting the position: the early renewal of the management board, possibly for three years, or in any case for a period longer than the six months remaining in the current mandate; the possibility to implement the industrial plan developed by his predecessor. 

Opening today in Piazza Affari, the Bpm stock travels in slightly negative territory (-0,2%).
