The former CEO of Olivetti leaves the board of directors of Banca Popolare di Milano in controversy with the shareholders' meeting on the increase in powers.

Bpm, Debenedetti formalizes his resignation from the Board

The resignation of Franco Debenedetti from the Board of Directors of Bpm is official. The director Assogestioni had recently argued with the president of the bank, Massimo Ponzellini, on the decision not to continue with the increase of powers from three to five, as hoped by the Bank of Italy. Although the reform had already been unanimously approved by the board, the shareholders' meeting however rejected the 'moral suasion' of via Nazionale. Debenedetti has therefore resigned from his position, in line with what he announced on Sunday in the columns of the Sole 24 Ore. "The issue of proxies" declared the now former director "brings us back to the central problem of all cooperative banks, i.e. governance, the per capita vote".
