Bper: ok EU to sell New Carife

The European Commission has given Bper the green light to sell Nuova Carife, one of the four bad banks born from the resolution established in November 2015 by the Government and Bank of Italy of the four institutions in crisis: Carichieti, Banca Etruria, Banca Marche and CariFerrara.

The news was communicated by Brussels itself, which through a note recalls that it has already approved the transfer of the three other bridge banks to Ubi Banca at the end of April.

According to the EU, "the sale process of the bridge bank conducted by the Italian authorities was open and competitive and selected the best available offer", reads the press release - "Consequently, the sale does not involve any state aid to Bper".

Lastly, the Commission underlines that Bper's business plan envisages the full integration of Nuova Carifewhich will therefore disappear from the market and will not create any distortions of competition in the European banking market.

It should be taken into consideration that the green light from Brussels comes after the one received on 12 June from the Antitrust. Furthermore, on June 20, Atlante 2 bought 343 million euro of non-performing loans of Carife. The transaction will be completed by 30 June.

At Piazza Affari, after the European Commission's go-ahead for the sale of Carife, the Bper share is up 1,8% to 4,518 euros, clearly beating the performance of the FtseMib, currently down by -0,79%
