Giovanni Bossi, the volcanic former CEO of Banca Ifis, has not been out of work for too long. His season at the head of the Mestre bank specializing in the recovery of non-performing loans ended in March, after more than twenty years, and he is ready to take the field in the next few days under the banners of Clessidra, the largest Italian private equity fund founded in the early XNUMXs by Claudio Sposito and taken over, after his death, by Carlo Pesenti's Italmobiliare.
Bossi will become co-head of the Clessidra Restructuring Fund together with the former CEO of Unicredit, Federico Ghizzoni, who will be joined by Massimiliano Fossati and Mario Fera, CEO of Clessidra Sgr.
The new Clessidra fund which, according to what Il Sole 24 Ore wrote, aims to collect up to 300 million in credits owed by banks to Italian industrial companies undergoing recovery, will focus on a specific niche of the difficult credit market, i.e. to the so-called Unlikely to pay credits, which often haunt banks after the regulatory tightening of the European regulatory and supervisory authorities.
Precisely because it is a niche within the vast planet of bank difficult loans, Bossi will be able - together with Ghizzoni - to field all the professionalism which Banca Ifis has developed in recent decades with which, however, no derby will be ignited because so far Sebastian Furstenberg's bank has never dealt with Utp. And it is very probable that Bossi – in full harmony with Clessidra – will do so with his traditional philosophy as a counter-current banker, which has always been to look at the income statement but also to help the real economy, in the belief that there is no long-term banking performance if the surrounding economic environment does not improve.
