Boschi: "No favoritism from the government for my father"

“My father was vice-president of Banca Etruria for 8 months until the government put the bank into a commissioner: the government does not make favoritism or personal laws. My father is a decent person, I feel uneasy because he ended up in the news not for what he does but because he is my father ”. This was stated by the Minister of Reforms, Maria Elena Boschi, in reference to the conflict of interest between the position she held in the Government and the role played by her father in one of the institutes involved in the Salva Banche.

“We are investigating a further intervention in the Stability law to meet extraordinary bondholders – added Boschi at the new presentation of Bruno Vespa's book -. There are various hypotheses of interventions of a solidarity nature: we must understand how much to intervene at a public level and how much to find alternative solutions".

On a political level, according to the minister, “there is no discomfort because our government intervened to prevent four banks from closing. These four banks will have a downsized future, but they will have a future. We did what we thought was right and could do. We did what was possible in the present framework. Even Bankitalia has said that Europe has its own responsibilities and the European Commission has replied to yesterday's interventions”.
