Stock exchanges, black September: the worst and the best stocks in Milan

The stock market rally has stopped. After the unbridled run in August, when the Ftse Mib gained 2,8% and Wall Street astounded investors with records, in September the world stock exchanges pulled the handbrake, slowed down by fears relating to the arrival of a second wave of coronavirus infections that could deal the final blow to world economies, already grappling with the worst crisis since the Second World War.

The result of this attitude is a generalized red that goes straight from Piazza Affari to Times Square doing of September the second worst month of the year after March, when the stock exchanges plummeted (Milan -20%) precisely due to the explosion of the pandemic worldwide and the consequent lockdowns imposed by governments to curb the infections.

BAGS: SEPTEMBER OF EUROPEAN LISTS

In September, the Eurostoxx 600, the stock index made up of 600 of the main European market capitalizations, lost 1,48%, a setback that also affects the quarterly trend which however remains positive (+0,21. XNUMX%).

In Europe, the worst performance in September goes to Milan, which in 30 days lost 3,15% of its value, weighed down by oil and banking. The quarter was also bad, closed with a loss of 1,86%, while since the beginning of the year the decline has exceeded 19%.

THE AMERICAN STOCK IN SEPTEMBER

On the other side of the ocean, September was the month when tech stocks crashed. After the records achieved in the previous 5 months – which brought the quarterly balance to +11% – last month the Nasdaq plunged 4,6% weighed down by strong speculation in derivatives triggered by SoftBank. The Japanese giant has made purchases worth tens of billions of dollars by implementing various types of derivatives to amplify the leverage effect. In sharp decline (-4,6%) also the S&P 500, which, however, is starting to close the three months with +8,8%.

PIAZZA AFFARI: THE WORST HEADLINES OF SEPTEMBER

Returning to Milan, the worst stock of the month was on the Ftse Mib Saipem. PIAZZA AFFARI: THE BEST HEADLINES OF SEPTEMBER

There is a countertrend to the general trend Inwit, which three months after its entry into the Ftse Mib conquers the palm of the best title of the month with a rise of 15,62%.
