Stock exchanges, Piazza Affari is the best in Europe and the only one on the rise

Piazza Affari is the only European stock market to rise since the beginning of the year - it was driven by the stocks of the Agnelli galaxy, banks and asset management and Telecom Italia, but the biggest rise was that of Yoox - So far the political unknown did not weigh

In Europe, only Piazza Affari is resisting after the correction of the last few weeks on the Stock Exchange. The Ftse Mib has gained 4,60% since the beginning of the year and, by virtue of this rise, conquers the leadership among the European Stock Exchange indices. Piazza Affari, while suffering from higher volatility than the other stock exchanges, is the only Stock Exchange in positive territory on the Old Continent. Frankfurt, Paris, London, Zurich and Madrid are all in red.

In Europe, the London Stock Exchange suffers from Brexit and it is the Stock Exchange that performs worse: -6,8% since the beginning of the year for the Ftse 100. The German Stock Exchange is also bad with the Dax30 which loses 4,09%. Very bad Zurich, which since the beginning of the year has suffered a drop in the SMI of 5,32%. The stock exchanges of Paris (-0,58% for the Cac40), Madrid (-2,82% for the Ibex35) and Amsterdam (-1,41% for Aex25) are also in negative territory.

But what were the stocks that allowed the Ftse Mib, the blue chip index, to achieve the best stock market performance since the beginning of 2018? By far, the largest increase in these first three months of the year was that achieved by Yoox (+29,6%) for the takeover bid launched by Richemont, but the main drivers are linked to the Agnelli galaxy and banks, asset management and to Telecom Italia.

Three of the four stocks in the Agnelli galaxy recorded double-digit increases: +19,41% for Exor, +15,315% for FCA and +13,66% for Ferrari, while CNH remained in negative territory (-4,89. XNUMX%).

Among the banks, double-digit increases for Banco Bpm, Bper, Intesa Sanpaolo and Unicredit. In asset management, Finecobank and Azimut shine while the new industrial plan sends Poste Italiane flying (+17,8%). Moncler also performed well (+13,2%).

Finally, in the last two weeks the comeback of Telecom Italia (+12,2%) stands out both for the projects on the separation of the network and for the assault on the Elliott fund.

Overall a good quarter for the blue chips of Piazza Affari, on which - at least for now - the uncertainty linked to the political uncertainty resulting from the elections of 4 March does not seem to weigh
