Stock markets weak in the sign of the Fed, Facebook and the Consulta

European stock exchanges find little optimism today, despite the oil rally and the recovery of Wall Street, where Facebook is recovering part of the losses accumulated in recent days, although it is the subject of a first class action In California, also filed against Cambridge Analytic.

Piazza Affari accelerates a little in the finale, +0,1%, 22.813 points, with Fiat and the oil companies in great shape, but the banks in the red. The other squares were weaker: Frankfurt +0,01%; Paris – 0,24%; Madrid -0,52% and London -0,32%. The euro rises slightly against the dollar, remaining in the 1,26 area. The pound appreciates, in the wake of wage growth and on the eve of the Bank of England meeting which should keep rates and the purchase program unchanged.

Still on the subject of central banks, the wait for the Fed is finally about to end, given that President Jerome Powell will hold his first press conference in a few minutes, at the end of the US central bank meeting.

Among the commodities, oil is galloping after yesterday's rally, thanks to a better-than-expected data in US weekly inventories. Brent +2,7%, 69,24 dollars a barrel. Wti +2,52%; $65,14 a barrel.

Gold is growing fractionally, at 34,71 euros per gram, +0,82%. The Italian secondary consolidates the gains, oblivious to any internal political problem. The ten-year yield is 1,85%, the spread with the Bund 124.60 (-0,08%).

In Piazza Affari the best blue chips today are Tenaris, +3,56%; Fiat +1,78%; Stm +2,26%; Saipem +1,33%; Moncler +1,75%. Tim decreased, -0,62%, on the eve of the board of directors, with the confirmation of the stake held by the Elliott fund. Mediaset is doing worse -2,03%; Banco Bpm -1,59%; Ferragamo, -1,68%; Unicredit -1,14%; Buzzi -1,14%.

Even outside the main basket, the banks marked heavy declines: the worst are Banca Carige -4,6% and Monte dei Paschi -3,33%. Today the executive committee of the ABI, while acknowledging the improvements made by the ECB to the text of the Addendum relating to the management of non-performing loans, asks to overcome the differences with the European Commission's proposals on the same matter.

Weak Cattolica (-0,97%), with the 2017 financial statements. Deep red for Datalogic, -10,6%, which grew in recent days before the presentation of its accounts. Sales sink Gedi, -4,73%.
