Stock markets weak but Wall Street recovering

Wall Street recovering with the Nasdaq in evidence after the correction of the past few days – Piazza Affari on parity, weighed down above all by oil companies and banks.

Stock markets weak but Wall Street recovering

The recovery of the Nasdaq is not enough, which opens positively after a troubled week, to bring the European price lists to a close. Indeed, while overseas the Dow Jones opens with 0,8% and the Nasdaq with +0,6%, with Apple and Tesla recovering four consecutive days of declines, Piazza Affari closes just on parity, with the Ftse Mib index just under 20.000 points. The session is modest but there are some exploits: for example the 4 best stocks all earn more than 2% and they are Amplifon, Diasorin, Snam and Prysmian. The worst title in the main basket is that of Saipem, also thanks to oil which continues to be very low, with the WTI at 37 dollars a barrel and Brent barely reaching 40 dollars.

In Milan it is definitely a bad day for the banks. Banco Bpm loses almost 2% after yesterday's rally, when it had gained more than 7% on the prospect of a recovery in the banking risk that involves it. Unicredit, Intesa Sanpaolo, Ubi Banca and Mediobanca are also bad, all with losses between 1 and 2%. In positive territory Enel, almost +1%, while Eni limits the damage with -0,35%. Tim and Generali are also among the other big names in the red, while FCA emerges with +0,3%, close to 10 euros per share. The Btp Bund spread was almost stable, just above 150 basis points. The euro continues to appreciate against the dollar: today it is bought with 1,183445 US dollars, after having fallen to 1,175 the day before yesterday. Gold is losing some ground, which in any case remains at very high values: 1.950 dollars an ounce, even if in August the 2.000 mark had been largely broken through.

in short the market climate continues to be dominated by uncertainty, also in light of the clash between the EU and the United Kingdom over Brexit. Meanwhile, the financial world continues to monitor the trend of infections from Covid-19: in Italy today the cases of positivity exceed 1.600, and on the increase, out of 98.000 swabs carried out.
