Stock market, Telecom Italia shines still driven by Vodafone

The risk of the telecommunications sector makes Telecom Italia fly. The group is at the top of the list in Piazza Affari, is growing strongly and continuously and earns about 5% by mid-morning. A figure that stands out on the weak opening of the European stock exchanges, with the Ftse Mib losing more than half a point.

The moves between Great Britain and the United States at Vodafone are driving Telecom's take-off. The British operator, whose title took off in London, confirmed yesterday the negotiation in progress for the sale of the 45 percent stake it holds in the American joint venture Verizon Wireless.

Bernstein's positive report is also beneficial. The broker's analysts have improved their opinion on Telecom Italia, taking it from "market perform" to "outperform", in the wake of the major maneuvers in the sector.

And still on the subject of TLC, this morning the Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim said he was ready to withdraw the takeover bid on the Dutch KPN if the shareholder foundation (which has veto rights on changes of ownership) continues to oppose the offer .
