Stock Exchange: Telecom runs awaiting development on shareholders

At Piazza Affari, Telecom Italia shines a light, continuing its race towards the one euro share: in fact, by mid-morning the share of the telephone company gained more than 2%, to 0,96 euro per share, reaching levels that they hadn't seen each other for about three years. Since the beginning of 2014, Telecom shares have risen more than 30%.

Future shareholder developments are stirring things up around the telephone company: from 15 to 30 June the shareholders of Telco, which holds 22,4% of the shares, will be able to dissolve the agreement that binds them. Many other companies, such as Generali and Mediobanca, have also expressed their willingness to leave.

Complicating the picture, after the dissolution of Telco, will be the presence of Telefonica, which would become the first shareholder of Telecom Italia, and would see its situation before the Brazilian authorities become more complicated, unless Telecom sells Tim Brasil. An eventuality excluded by the CEO of the telephone company Marco Patuano, who considers the Brazilian subsidiary to be strategic for the group. A complex picture, therefore, but investors are betting on change.

“I don't issue statements on listed companies but you will see in practice what we will do in the next few weeks – said the managing director of Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Messina, regarding the expectations on the bank's exit from Telco -. Our business plan has a clear indication of the divestment of all our non-strategic investments. It is clear that this demobilization is part of the projects of our business plan”.
