The quotation is supported by some rumors reported today by Il Sole 24 Ore - and not denied - regarding the possible sale by Eni of the controlling stake in the plant engineering company.
According to the rumors of a few weeks ago, Saipem's potential buyers would be the Russians of Rosneft, the Norwegians Subsea 7 and Seadrill, while recently the name of Arabtec has also popped up.
The picture will most likely clear up on July 31st, when the oil giant will present the first half-year accounts and the update of the industrial plan desired by the new managing director Claudio Descalzi.
The manager is in a hurry to shift the company's focus to upstream operations, which have a higher return.
