Stock Exchange: Prysmian, Juve and banks hit Piazza Affari

The collapse of more than 9% of Prysmian and more than 11% of Juventus and the negative performance of many banks weigh on Piazza Affari, even if the relaunch of some Made in Italy pearls such as Amplifon, Tenaris, Atlantia and CNH Industrial reduce the losses of the list.

Negative session for Piazza Affari, on the day of the minutes of the meeting of the ECB in January and of Tim's board of directors, who will also communicate the accounts and the new business plan on Friday. While waiting for the curtain to lift, the Telecom stock closed in negative territory, with -1,6% at 0,529 euro. Today, however, financial news is closely linked to sports news: the worst stock in the Ftse Mib is that of Juventus, which loses more than 11% a 1,288 euros per share, after the flop (still remediable, but which in the meantime weighs on the morale of fans and investors) in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

Prysmian is also very bad, after i new WesternLink cable problems, the underwater power line between Wales and Scotland, which now seemed to be in place. On the contrary, the service has temporarily stopped, due to a problem that the company is promptly trying to identify and resolve "with the least possible impact". Result: the stock loses more than 9%, just over 17 euros. AND the Ftse Mib leaves half a percentage point on the ground, at 20.209 points. But if Athens cries, Sparta doesn't laugh: the other European stock exchanges are also doing badly (apart from Frankfurt), starting with London which loses almost 1%, and Wall Street also opens in the sign of distrust.

In Milan the banks are suffering, demoralized by the partial reverse of the ECB on the possibility of carrying out a new LTTRO that is, to provide additional long-term liquidity to credit institutions. According to the minutes of the January meeting, “decisions in this regard must not be taken too hastily. It is necessary to have more data and information and therefore a more in-depth assessment” of the economic situation in the Eurozone will be made at the next meeting in March. As Unicredit is the worst, losing almost 3% but still above 11 euros per share. Intesa Sanpaolo limits the damages with -0,8% to 2,04 euros. Banco Bpm -2,35%, Mediobanca -1%, Bper -1,6%, Ubi slightly bucking the trend +0,4%.

To limit the damage to the Ftse Mib there are some stocks that go against the trend: among these Amplifon +2,16%, Tenaris +1,7%, Atlantia +1,6%, Cnh Industrial +1,5%. The euro/dollar exchange rate is at 1.1333, while gold depreciates slightly and is now worth 1331.04 dollars an ounce. The oil market was essentially stable: Brent rose above 67 dollars a barrel, while Wti gave some ground, which is worth exactly 10 dollars less a barrel (57.1). Oils at the waterline: Eni +0,12%, Saipem +0,35%. The Btp-Bund spread narrows slightly, closing just below 270 basis points.
