First day of listing on the Milan Stock Exchange for the title of Poste Italiane. The shares open up 1,7%, but after a few minutes they wipe out the gains and fall below parity. About an hour after the start of trading, the stock dropped 0,7%, to 6,7 euros, against the placement price set last week by the Treasury at 6,75 euros.

“It is a goal and a starting point – commented the managing director, Francesco Caio, before the opening of the market –. It is a new phase that is based on having brought Poste Italiane services and values ​​onto the market. We are confident and aware of the objectives to be achieved. The company will have to compete with investors who look at us and expect the implementation of the plan that we have already outlined in broad terms”. 

The president of Poste, Luisa Todini, spoke of a "moment of great emotion", while for Fabrizio Pagani, head of the technical secretariat of the Ministry of Economy "is a very important day: we are happy and excited". In any case, added Pagani, the quotation of Poste "is the first of a series of operations: there will still be others". 

The ceremony organized for the debut of the Poste stock was also attended by the president of the London Stock Exchange, Donald Brydon, former president of Royal Mail, the British post office: "I am very proud to have been president of Royal Mail and to be president of the LSE - he said -, as well as the support he also gives to Borsa Italiana and its important role in this country".
