With the Ftse Mib index now steadily above 22.300 basis points and with an increase that since the beginning of the year is close to 22% (+21,82% to be precise), the Italian Stock Exchange regains its supremacy among the major European stock exchanges.

Thanks to the 0,7% increase in the last week and the concomitant 0,52% retreat of the Paris Cac40, due to the collapse of Renault, Piazza Affari has overtaken the French stock exchange, which in 2019 is up by 20,47 % and ranks second in the ranking of the main stock exchanges in Europe.

The Italian leadership is thanks above all to the advancement of bank stocks, including Banca Popolare di Sondrio, Bper and Banca Bpm (suggesting consolidation with Ubi) led the way with weekly increases of over 7%.

Le extraordinary events of Gedi-Espresso, Mediobanca and Telecom Italia they did the rest together with a budget maneuver which, although open to criticism in some aspects (VAT numbers, cash, etc.) nonetheless avoided the increase in VAT and initiated the reduction of the tax wedge without unpleasant disputes with Europe to which the Conte 1 government had gotten used to it.

In third place among the major stock exchanges in Europe is the German one with the Dax30 which since the beginning of the year, despite the car and banking crisis which, however, achieved a moderate recovery in the last week, earns 19,67%.

Fourth among the main European stock exchanges is the Dutch one (+18,29% since the beginning of the year) and fifth that of Zurich, which in 2019 recorded an increase of 18,22%. Outside the main exchanges, it remains to signal the leap of the Stockholm Stock Exchange, driven above all by Ericsson (+7,3% in the last week), which has recorded an increase of 2019% since the beginning of 20,53, and that of Dublin (+18,40% in the current year).

In the world, only the Nasdaq, the index of American high tech stocks, did better than the Ftse Mib with an increase in 2019 which was 23,02, not much higher than that of the Italian stock exchange.
