After yesterday, Monte dei Paschi di Siena is once again in the spotlight in Piazza Affari: the stock opened at +3% and by mid-morning it was up 2,73%, at 0,22 euro.
Volumes are sustained: already 200 million pieces traded, equal to 1,7% of the capital, compared to 15% that changed hands during the whole day yesterday. Operators are betting on the Foundation's future moves, which would be ready to sell a block of shares in view of the capital increase.
On the market, the focus is on hedges, Blackrock and sovereign wealth funds. On Wednesday, rumors circulated about the sale of a 10% stake, which was then probably blocked in extremis, but further news could arrive shortly.
