Monte dei Paschi, black jersey of the Ftse Mib in the session, falls on the Monte dei Paschi stock exchange. The Sienese institute's stock, after returning to trading from the volatility auction, collapsed to -8% and then reassessed itself in mid-morning around a 4,5% drop. The trading volumes are very intense.
The bank's stock is weighed down by fears that the MPS Foundation or other historic shareholders may put shares on the market before the December 27 meeting which will have to resolve on the 3 billion euro capital increase. The Foundation has denied these rumors.
