Stock exchange: Milan stalled, Bper and Unipol in evidence

Operators are awaiting the US employment data arriving in the afternoon – Uncertainty penalizes Mediobanca, little move despite the sharp jump in profits and generous accounts – Among the insurance companies, Unipol data is appreciated – Telecom Italia above parity: eyes on on the issue of unbundling the network – Flat oil, the dollar remains weak.

Piazza Affari, which has just arrived at the top of the Stock Exchange rankings, is slowing down. The Ftse Mib index dropped by approximately 0,25% around 21.700. The other European lists rose slightly: Paris e Frankfurt + 0,1% Madrid + 0,3%. London + 0,06%.

Traders are awaiting today's US jobs data. The dollar remains weak, it has lost further ground following rumors of investigations into Russia's interference in the last presidential election. Euro-dollar exchange rate at 1,188 from 1,185 the day before.

Il Petroleum Brent is flat at $52,0 a barrel. Eni drops by 0,3%. Still weak Tenaris (-0,33%).

Little move Mediobanca (-0,06%) after The bills. Piazzetta Cuccia closed the financial statements as at 30 June (2016-2017 financial year) with a sharp rise in net profit, 750 million euros (+24%). Under favorable market conditions, the press release reads, Mediobanca expects the reduction stake held in the capital of Generali (today at 13,24%) "at 10% over the horizon of the plan", therefore by 2019. But this morning in the conference call with analysts Alberto Nagel wanted to clarify what the institute's policy is on his most important shareholding: "If our growth requires more capital than it produces, it will be the management's obligation, before asking for capital from the shareholders, to disengage the group's resources, and among these is the shareholding in Generali".

As regards the 6% held in RCS (+0,63%), Nagel said that the bank will evaluate "depending on the development of prospects" whether or not to sell the stake. "The conversations we had with Urbano Cairo make us think that the publishing group - thanks to his intervention - now has better prospects and can re-evaluate itself".

Bper (+4%) is the best stock in the Stxx 600 after the announcement of a maxi-provision of 1 billion euro to drastically reduce the burden of suffering.

Unicredit is flat after yesterday's 7% jump: Mediobanca and JP Morgan both raised their target price to 22 euros. Weak Understanding (-0,5%) And Bpm bank (-0,2%). Carige -4% after the results and data on the capital increase.

They like them among the insurance companies the results of Unipol (+2%). The group closed the first half with a loss of 390 million, better than expected, due to the restructuring of the banking participation (write-downs on credits of 962 million). Generals unchanged. 

Just above parity Telecom Italy (+0,17%). The market awaits concrete indications on the hypothesis of a spin-off of the network and the possible sale of Brazil.
