Stock Exchange: Mediaset (and Parmalat) superstars, sell the Popular

Despite the semi-festive climate, Mediaset is always at the center of trading on the stock market and the stock is gaining again today (almost 3%) - Saipem, Buzzi, Telecom Italia and FCA also do well - Uncertainties about the reform of the Popolari and the ECB effect penalize instead Bpm, Banco Popolare and Ubi but also Unicredit and Mediobanca are in decline.

Floating day for Milan, which closes above parity at +0,24%, despite the semi-festive climate, supported by Mediaset, +2,79%, still hot, after the challenge launched by Vivendi. Oils were positive, in particular Saipem +1,66%. Banks were weak, with the thud of Bpm -3,95% and BP -3,7%. The sector suffers from the news that, to save Mps, a capital increase of 8,8 billion is needed of Euro. According to rumors the Treasury should intervene with a figure close to 6,5 billion euros and the 20 billion fund should be sufficient to meet the various needs. Even today, the title did not enter trading due to a decision by Consob and Borsa Italiana.

The rest of Europe is sluggish: Frankfurt +0,19%; Paris +0,18%; Madrid +0,10%. London not received, given that it was also closed today for holidays. Positive Wall Street, from which operators are expecting further sparks, after the string of records struck starting from November 8th. Many analysts say: it is not due to Trump, but to the good accounts of the companies. And the ship is going, driven by macro indicators: consumer confidence and manufacturing index better than expected in December, and further upward trend of houses. The three main price lists rose fractionally in the middle of the day, with the spotlight on the Dow Jones to see if it will be able to overcome the psychological threshold of 20 points by the end of the year.

Brent on the rise, +1,54%%, at 56,76 dollars a barrel. In the wake of the recovery of black gold and its prospects, following the historic agreement to contain production, Saipem is traveling +1,66%; Tenaris also did well +1,18%. Effervescent Fiat, +1,16%, while Ferrari remains equal, after the decision to reward its employees with a gross bonus of 5 euros, following the 2016 economic results. Purchases on Buzzi, +0,71% which, over the course of a year, has achieved an increase of 37,65%.

Day in line with the Campari price list +0,27%. announced the sale of Lapostolle wines in Chile for 30 million euros. The deal should close within two months and confirms the group's willingness to exit the still wine business, focusing on the core business of spirits.

Mediaset +2,79% and Telecom +1,57% are further rewarded by purchases waiting to understand Vincent Bollorè's next moves. Meanwhile, Vivendi, which owns almost 30% of Alfa Romeo and 24% of the telephone giant, is having a positive day on the Paris Stock Exchange (+0,71%).

At the end of the Ftse Mib, we find Bpm and BP after last Friday Fitch lowered the long-term rating of the two banks and due to the uncertainties related to the reform of the popular banks. Ubi -0,57%, Unicredit -0,6% and Intesa -0,33% also fell.

Off the main list Parmalat stands out at +10,12%, following thetakeover bid aimed at delisting launched by Lactalis, which already holds 87,7% of the Italian company. The price, set at 2,8 euros per share, will involve an outlay of over 804 million in the event of total adhesion. However, Citibank's lawsuit could weigh on the takeover bid, Radiocor writes, due to events dating back to the collapse of the Italian group, unless an agreement has been reached in the meantime. Furthermore, Azione Parmalat, the association that brings together some small shareholders, says it is "perplexed by the price offered with respect to the good performance of the company thanks also to the acquisition of Lag". In short, the takeover bid should put something more on the plate.

In the light of Mondadori (+4,5%). The rise of the group, belonging to the Berusconi family, would not be attributable to particular reasons other than, as explained in Piazza Affari, the increase in book sales - including those by Rizzoli acquired by RCS - during the Christmas period. Spreads recovering: +3,32% to 164.70 basis points, yield 1,86%.
