The London Stock Exchange, which controls Borsa Italiana, announces that it has "acknowledged" the interest expressed by the American Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in a possible alliance, but stresses that negotiations "continue" with Deutsche Boerse in view of a possible fusion.
The London Stock Exchange explains that the Board has taken note of Ice's announcement regarding the possibility of a bid, but adds that at the moment it has not received concrete "proposals".
"After the February 26 announcement – continues the note from the LSE – negotiations continue between the LSE and Deutsche Boerse in view of a possible merger on an equal basis”.
According to British regulations, Ice, which as communicated by the American SEC has not yet started a phase of contacts with the LSE, has until March 29 to present an offer, while the deadline for Deutsche Boerse is March 22.
