Stock market, waiting for Draghi gives sprint to banks and insurance companies

Wall Street closed for holidays, all attention is on European markets – Mario Draghi will speak to the EU Parliament in the afternoon – Spreads down, oil recovery continues: Saipem soars – Unicredit leaps strongly, promoted by Exane

Piazza Affari reappears above 17 thousand points, awaiting the hearing of Mario Draghi in the European Parliament set for 15 pm. The Ftse Mib index marks + 3,96% at midday at 17.187, in line with Paris +3,31, 3,17% and Madrid +2,78%, and ahead of Frankfurt +1,96% and London +XNUMX%. The markets will be closed today for holidays in the United States, with evident repercussions on the volumes traded in the European session. The BTP/Bund spread drops to 132 basis points down from 138 points at Friday's close. Last week, the Italy/Germany spread fluctuated between a minimum of 125 and a maximum of 163 basis points. The euro weakens against the dollar to 1,120. 

The relaunch of Piazza Affari, the leading price list of the morning, is linked to rebound of banks and insurance companies. The sector index of European banks rose by 3,2%, that of insurance companies by 3,5%.

According to rumors reported by Reuters, next month the ECB could strengthen the measures to support the recovery by inserting bank non-performing loans repackaged on the basis of the new rules on bad banks, accepting them as collateral in the "basket" of purchasable assets.

Unicredit is up 5,5%. This morning Exane BNP Paribas decided to upgrade the recommendation to Outperform from Neutral, however cutting the target price by 12% to 5 euros. 

UnipolSai salt by 7%. The best title is anyway Monte Paschi + 9% before Banco Popolare of 7,5%.
 
Understanding + 4,7% Generali +4,3%. Out of the main list it stands out Banca Carige + 11%.
  
This morning the Brent it fluctuates around 33 dollars (-0,6%) consolidating last Friday's +11%. Even the wtf it is little moved at 29,40 dollars (+12% on Friday).

 Continue the bounce of Eni +3,7% at 11,84 euros. It also advances Tenaris + 2.9%.

 Resurrection of Saipem +11,8%, on the day of the reopening of the rights auction. The purchases were prompted by the news that Eni will invest 4 billion dollars in the first phase of the development of the huge Zohr gas field in Egypt, which has been rated as one of the largest in the world.

Finmeccanica leaps forward by 6,5% to 9,38 euros: according to the Kuwait press agency (KUNA), the contract for the purchase of 28 Eurofighter fighters by Kuwait could be signed next week.

Fiat Chrysler also galloping +6,1%. The Stoxx index of European automotive companies gains 4%.

Up too Telecom Italy +2,9% a few hours before the board of directors on the 2015 accounts and on the business plan which will both be presented in London on Tuesday. 

Finally, widespread gains also among medium and small caps. Among others they advance Saras +8%RCS +7%Banca Generali +7,7%.
