The progress of the Asian markets does not stop, e attention has now shifted from European tensions to trends in the real economy, which confirm the good progress, both in America and in Asia, while even in Europe some lights are lit, if not for recovery, at least for stability of the cycle. The MSCI regional index, up about 0.5%, marks an 11th consecutive week of gains, and the yen weakens against all major partner currencies. The good closing on Wall Street, after the data on the low level of the new unemployment benefits, reinforced the optimism in Asia this morning.

The quotations of the maritime transport companies are rising – freight rates have grown strongly on routes to and from Asia – and the latter are a sensitive indicator of the economic situation. Next week, China's People's Congress is expected to adopt measures to support growth, although these measures could lead to a further chilling of a 'bubble-scented' sector with a real estate tax.
