La the Italian Stock Exchange risks leave Piazza Affari. According to what MF – Milano Finanza reports today, after 90 years the Milanese price list could to abandon its historical headquarters in Palazzo Mezzanotte, built in 1932 to bring together the Stock Exchange and the Commodities Exchanges in one place.

The notice on Palazzo Mezzanotte

La Chamber of Commerce of Milan, owner of the 18.700 square meter building, has opened a call for tenders to reassign the spaces. The starting price is 6,85 million euros a year for a 6-year contract, renewable for another 6. The deadline for sending requests for clarification is Friday 29 April, while the deadline for submitting offers is Monday 16 May.

Euronext and the precedent of the Paris Stock Exchange

To date, it is unclear whether Euronext, which it has owned since last year of the Italian Stock Exchange, whether or not it intends to tender. But in the end could choose to don't do it to cut costs linked to the prestigious headquarters in the center of Milan.

After all, Euronext has already moved the Paris Stock Exchange, moving the headquarters to the new La Défense district.

Where could the new headquarters of Borsa Italiana be?

It cannot be excluded, however, that Palazzo Mezzanotte may remain available to Euronext to perform a role of institutional representation: in that case, only the Stock Exchange offices and the actual price list would be moved. Where would they go? Maybe somewhere along the close Course Italy, but even on this point there are doubts. Some sources cited by MF merely reveal that the building should be similar to the one chosen for the Paris Stock Exchange: a recent construction or a sustainably renovated building.
