Stock market: Indesit flies after Whirlpool purchase, Mediaset slips on fears for advertising

In the early afternoon, while the Ftse Mib recovered by 1,21% after the slides of the last few sessions, the attention of investors in Piazza Affari was mainly concentrated on two stocks: Indesit and Mediaset, which exhibit divergent trends to say the least. The first scores an increase of three percentage points, to 10,84 euros, while the second - positive throughout the morning - turns red and manages to lose 1% (3,318 euros), one of the worst performances of the main Borsa Italiana list.

The progress of Indesit comes after the announcement ofacquisition of the company by Whirlpool. The value of the shares is therefore close to the price put on the plate by the US group, i.e. 11 euros per share.

As for Mediaset, the share reversed course in Piazza Affari, penalized by fears for the trend in advertising sales. Nielsen, in fact, indicated that the advertising sector returned to suffer last May, posting a decline of 5,2% on an annual basis.

In particular, the television sector recorded a drop in advertising investments of 4,6%, with Rai and Mediaset performing worse than the average, with reductions of 7,2% and 5% respectively. Sky did well, posting a 5,4% increase, while La7 suffered (but less than the market), with a drop of 2,9%.
