Bag, the Jeep case weighs on Fiat

Difficult start in Piazza Affari for the Fiat share, which in mid-morning lost more than two points, the worst fall of the Ftse Mib. The dispute over Chrysler's American Jeeps still weighs on the Lingotto shares.

The Nhtsa (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the US agency for road safety, has recommended the Detroit-based company recall 2,7 million vehicles: these are models prior to Fiat's entry into the company's capital. namely the 1993-2004 Grand Cherokee and the 2002-2007 Liberty.

However, Chrysler rejected the advice: “The company does not share the conclusions of the Nhtsa – reads a note – and does not intend to recall the vehicles mentioned in the investigation. The vehicles in question are safe and free from defects.

The problem encountered by the government agency concerns the positioning of the fuel tank behind the rear axle of the SUVs, which according to the Nhtsa could cause the engine to catch fire.
