Stock market, Gemina flies on decree that unlocks tariff increases

Fly Gemina on the news of the signing of the decree which makes the Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) program contract effective. Around 9,50 am, the share of the holding company jumped by 23,08%, to 0,9865 euros, after having reached a maximum of 1 euro, the peak of the year. The exchanges were extraordinary: over 3,7 million pieces changed hands, against an average of the entire session of 2,021 million in the last thirty days.

In the late evening of 21 December, Gemina released a note referring to the "signing by the President of the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of Infrastructure in agreement with the Minister of the Economy, of the decree which makes the agreement effective – program contract stipulated by Aeroporti di Roma with the National Authority for Civil Aviation (ENAC) on 25 October last”.

The press release highlights that "the new framework of rules will make it possible to reduce, although not eliminating it, the tariff gap with respect to the European average (today 95% higher), which has accumulated since the freeze on airport tariffs which has persisted since 2000. The new tariffs will be substantially aligned to what was recently established for the SEA program contract, and in any case among the lowest in Europe. Thanks to this agreement, therefore, the conditions have finally been created for the modernization and expansion of the most important Italian airport system, with a significant improvement in the quality of the service offered to passengers and airlines: the investments foreseen over the next ten years amount to 2,5 billion (for the expansion of the current terminal), as part of a plan drawn up with the contribution of the international partner Changi (Singapore airport), for a total of 12 billion until 2044, which includes the expansion to north of the airport. With particular reference to developments expected in the short term, infrastructural elements of essential importance for the increase in capacity and the level of service offered will be made available in the period 2013-2016, with a financial commitment of over 1.200 million, a significant increase compared to initial forecasts of the plan set at around 900 million".

And again: "With the planned investments - financed entirely with private capital - the capacity of Fiumicino airport will be able to rise to over 100 million passengers, a size necessary to satisfy the expected development of traffic in Rome, the natural hub of the Mediterranean beyond than among the main tourist destinations in the world”.

A trader points out that Gemina's run is entirely attributable to the announcement of the program contract, given that the rumors about the shortening of the chain of control of the Benetton galaxy, with the disappearance of Sintonia and the creation of a single holding company at the head of AdR and Autostrade per l'Italia, relaunched today by Il Sole 24 Ore, "are already discounted".

In Piazza Affari, Atlantia, which would be involved in the restructuring, gains 0,95%. A foreign broker - who has included Gemina in the Selected List, raising the target price to 1,2 from 1 euro - says he expects a reshuffle of the shareholding structure, with the potential exit of the financial partners (UniCredit, FonSai and Mediobanca). The broker also raises the possibility of a merger with Atlantia.
