Stock exchange, Finmeccanica flies on the wings of Mexico and Qatar

The share of Finmeccanica flies to Piazza Affari, which gains more than three and a half percentage points in mid-morning, achieving the highest increase in the Ftse Mib.

The shares probably benefit from the launch of the mission in Mexico: the company announces that it is available for technological partnerships through its subsidiaries.

In particular, Alenia Aermacchi could supply the C-27J and Superjet100 aircraft, AgustaWestland has contacts with Sedena for AW helicopters for civil use, while Selex ES could participate in the naval capacity renewal program launched by Mexico.

The Finmeccanica stock is also supported by the order acquired yesterday in Qatar by the subsidiary Fata Epc, which will build and put into operation a plant for the production of hydrochloric acid and caustic soda of 70 tons per day in the industrial area of Mesaieed.

The contract was awarded by Gulf Chlorine Wll, a joint venture between Oman Chlorine Saog and the Qatari company Al Mirqab Capital, for a total value of 70 million dollars.

In detail, Fata will be responsible for the complete supply on an Epc basis, which includes the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up works of the plant.

A project, underlined Finmeccanica, "of absolute strategic value which, once full production is reached, will help create new jobs both directly and in support of the plant".

The title is also supported by the fact that the CEO of Airbus has stated that consolidation is ready in the space sector and is possibly willing to discuss the purchase of the minority stake in MBDA (the joint venture in the missile sector with Finmeccanica and BAE).

Finmeccanica is present in the space sector with two joint ventures with Thales while it has a 25% stake in Mbda which Intermonte values around 1,2 billion euro. For analysts, this news "is positive and clearly indicates that the process of consolidation in the defense sector is about to begin".
