Stock market, Finmeccanica flies on rumors of Ansaldo sale: the Malacalzas and Banca Carige are in pole position

The sale of Ansaldo Energia sends Finmeccanica to the Stock Exchange, where by mid-morning it is the stock that earns the most with +4%. Indeed, as revealed today by Il Sole 24 Ore, the Italian strategic fund (FSI) "is moving towards the establishment of a consortium with an Italian majority" to take over Ansaldo Energia from the Finmeccanica group.

"The market - explains the business daily - is also looking at the role that the government would play in the game and, in particular, at the approval that the operation would receive from the Minister of Economic Development, Corrado Passera". “In the last few hours, the reorganization of the Genoese company would have accelerated. The sale of 100% of Ansaldo Energia is now in sight. It would not be only Finmeccanica (which owns 55% of the Genoese company) now ready to sell, after having alerted its advisors Deutsche Bank and Banca Imi, but also the American minority shareholder, the First Reserve fund (which owns the remaining 45 %), would by now have started the procedures to enhance its stake, assigning an assignment to the investment bank Goldman Sachs in the last few days”.

“After the preliminary purchase proposal – writes il Sole – presented in recent days, precisely to provide a valid alternative to the German group, the Italian consortium relies on Ansaldo Energia to define the structure of the offer in detail. One of the nodes will be to obtain formal membership of the consortium of business groups with which, for now, there would have been only negotiations and discussions”.

“Many names are circulating in these hours – adds the newspaper – but at the moment there would be no official confirmation: from the Genoese Malacalza family, which has liquidity of around one billion to invest, up to banking entities such as the Genoese institute Carige. The impression is that the Strategic Fund, the financial arm of the Cdp led by Giovanni Gorno Tempini, has manifested itself to Finmeccanica with an official preliminary proposal, precisely to counter the action of Siemens, now ready to close the game on the Genoese company ”.
