Stock market, Finmeccanica rebounds after Siemens offer for Ansaldo Energia

Il title of Finmeccanica rebounds today in Piazza Affari, rising by about two and a half points an hour after the start of trading. The shares are leading the Ftse Mib, which in the same minutes is in the red by 0,3%. The purchases on Finmeccanica come in the wake of the news of theSiemens offer for Ansaldo Energia, controlled by the defense group.

Over the weekend, "Il Sole 24 Ore" wrote that the German giant had put on the table a sum "close to the estimate of 1,3 billion euros which was discussed a few months ago, before the political storm erupted aimed at defending the Italian spirit of Ansaldo Energia, a prelude to the entry onto the scene of the Strategic Fund and Cassa depositi e prestiti”.

However, the deal will not close anytime soon. One week after the vote, the new CEO of Finmeccanica, Alessandro Pansa (who recently replaced Giuseppe Orsi, who was arrested for some alleged bribes on an Agusta Westland order in India) explained that any decision will be postponed until after the elections.

In addition to Siemens, the Korean companies Samsung and Doosan also confirmed the offers presented to Finmeccanica on February 15th. But at this point it is by no means certain that the top management of the company controlled by the Treasury (which holds over 30%) will choose to sell Ansaldo to a foreign company. Several politicians are against the project, fearing that it could result in a further technological impoverishment for Italian industry.
