Stock market, Fiat falls after the data on registrations

Bad day in Piazza Affari for the Fiat stock, which lost more than two percentage points in mid-morning, recording the worst drop of the entire Ftse Mib. The latest news from the car market triggered the sales of Lingotto shares.

The Ministry of Transport communicated that in June car registrations in Italy amounted to 122.008 units, for a decrease of 5,5% compared to the same period of 2012. Also in the month of June, Fiat registered 33.504 cars in Italy, a figure down by 15,2%. The group's market share dropped from 30,7% in June 2012 to 27,5%. Last May it was 30,2%.

“Like last month, registrations by Fiat Group Automobiles were conditioned by the failure to supply the Group with components for some models – reads a note from Lingotto -, with consequent delays in deliveries: over 2.000 cars sold that customers were unable to collect (which would have accounted for 1,6 percentage points more of the market share)”.
