At the end of trading, the Nikkei index of leading stocks rose 0,25% to 14,199.59 points, while the broader Topix gained 0,47% to 1.165,51 points.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange closed the session with slight progress, at the end of a day with a weak trend, which however benefited from the rebound of the euro and, to a lesser extent, of the dollar against the yen.
