This morning Autogrill recorded a strong increase (around three percentage points) after the declarations of Gilberto Benetton, who in the meeting spoke of mergers with other groups and of possible descent under the majority of the shareholder Edizione. In the late morning, the stock settled around a gain of 1,6%.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the chairman Gilberto Benetton explained that after the separation of the businesses, which should be effective at the end of September-beginning of October, the group will be able to go around and evaluate the opportunities that the market offers.
The entrepreneur from Veneto indicated that the Benetton family itself, in the event of mergers, would have no problem letting go and dropping below 50% both in the new Autogrill, the company that will be active in catering, and in World Duty Free , the one operating in duty free. However, Benetton underlined that at the moment there are no negotiations in progress.
Yesterday the president of the group had declared that by October World Duty Free will be listed on the Piazza Affari.
