Stock market, Banco Popolare collapses: Moody's threatens the downgrade

Black day on the Stock Exchange for the Banco Popolare stock, which at the end of the morning lost almost 5 points, clearly trailing the Ftse Mib. The institution's shares suffer from the decision of Moody's, which put the bank's long- and short-term debt ratings under review for a possible downgrade

The revision, as stated in a note from the American agency, is linked to fears about the worsening of the "already weak" quality of assets and the scarce generation of capital in the face of the recessionary context in which Italy finds itself. Moody's currently assigns Banco Popolare a Baa3 rating, just one notch above trash level.
