Stock Exchange, Banco BPM exploits the Buffett effect and Tim pays for the golden power

Stock market session with little movement in Piazza Affari (+0,07%) but Banco Bpm achieves an exploit (+3,6%) thanks to the probable agreement with Cattolica Assicurazioni of which Warren Buffett is the first shareholder - The performances of Campari, Banca Generali and Brembo – Telecom Italia (now Tim) instead pays the go-ahead from the Government to the Golden power – New records on Wall Street, the Madrid stock market fails

The new opening on Wall Street's record levels it is not enough to give a positive boost to the European lists, which remain on the sidelines, waiting to understand how it will evolve the Spanish crisis and how it will move Austria after the victory of the centre-right in the elections. Piazza Affari closes just above parity, +0,07%, 22.428 points, with Banco Bpm in rally, +3,76% and Telecom, -1,1% among the worst stocks of the Ftse Mib. The market, it seems, fails the decision of the Italian government to use the golden power towards the group, waiting to know the details that will be released in the evening by Palazzo Chigi. Today the council of ministers also approved the 20 billion maneuver for 2018, whose cornerstones are the freezing of VAT and excise duties, the decontribution for new permanent employees under the age of 35 and the resources for the renewal of contracts in the public sector that have expired for many years. 

Frankfurt +0,09% and Paris +0,21% moved little; Madrid remains in the red, -0,75%, with the persistence of the stalemate between Catalonia and the central administration. Slightly negative London, -0,11%.

Grand opening in New York, under a shower of quarterly reports and with the lists driven by financial and technological stocks. Fifty-five S&P 500 companies are scheduled to release earnings this week, while 32 have already released their earnings and 84,4% of those beat earnings expectations. The banks rebound, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley who will release the results tomorrow, before the opening of the Stock Exchange. Great expectations for Netflix, currently not moving much, which will publish the accounts today, after the close of trading.

The euro remains in the 1,18 zone against the dollar. Among the raw materials oil slows down, but it remains positive, Brent +0,9%, 57,46 dollars a barrel. Flat calm on gold, around 1300 dollars an ounce

Positive session for Italian bonds: the yield on the 10-year BTP falls to 2,04%, minimum for a month, even if the spread with the Bund widens by 0,36% to 166.40 basis points.

The blue-chip patrol of Piazza Affari is led by Banco Bpm all day. The share is driven by the rumors relating to Warren Buffett's possible entry into the capital of Berkshier Hathaway, should the bank choose Cattolica Assicurazioni as partner in bancassurance. They also stand out among the bankers B for Banca +1,09% and Banca Generali +1,12%. Purchases reward Campari +2,23% and Brembo +1,11%,

Sales are concentrated instead on Telecom, while Vivendi posts modest losses on the Paris Stock Exchange. They go down Azimuth -1,38%; Italgas -1,05%; Fiat -0,53%; Snam -0,48%. Weak Atlantia, -0,33%, awaiting the possible counter-offer on Abertis by Acs.
