Stock market: Ansaldo Sts gains on rumors of a possible sale to General Electric

Ansaldo Sts gained 1,25% on the back of rumors regarding the sale of the company and Ansaldo Breda by Finmeccanica, down on the other hand in Piazza Affari (-2,12%).

Corriere della Sera once again speaks of ongoing contacts between Finmeccanica and General Electric for the sale of both Ansaldo Breda and Ansaldo Sts and in particular the negotiations would concern the perimeter to be included in the sale and the price. Ge would be mainly interested in Ansaldo Sts while Finmeccanica would like to increase the sales area to the US multinational. The rest would end up in a bad company which would also include some disputed contracts, those of Belgium-Holland and Denmark.

The second step obviously concerns the agreement on the price. Intermonte analysts believe "the possibility that GE will buy Ansaldo Sts and the best assets of Bredam is realistic, given that the American company would have numerous advantages from the operation".

However, Intermonte continues to assign the 50% chance that a takeover bid is launched on Sts.
