Baby bonus 2019: from the second child it increases by 20%

The 2019 baby bonus enters the Budget law. With an amendment presented by Emiliano Fenu, rapporteur of the Legastellata majority, the Government has included in the fiscal decree connected to the maneuver the extension of the birth allowance (this is the technical name of the baby bonus) for children who will be born next year. But there is something new compared to previous years: the amount will rise by 20% from the second child onwards.

BABY BONUS: THE BASIC SCHEME

The basic scheme of the 2019 baby bonus is the same introduced by the Renzi government in 2015 and then confirmed until 2018 by the Gentiloni government:

  • 80 euros per month (equal to 960 euros a year) for families with an Isee income below 25 euros a year;
  • 160 euros per month (equal to 1.920 euros a year) for families with an Isee income below 7 thousand euros a year.

THE BABY BONUS 2019 LASTS ONLY 12 MONTHS

Unlike the baby bonuses in force between 2015 and 2017, which lasted for three years, the 2019 baby bonus will be paid for only one year, as was envisaged for children born in 2018.

NEW: 20% INCREASE FROM THE SECOND CHILD ONWARDS

But with the 2019 baby bonus comes a novelty that is worth almost 200 more in a year. From next year, in fact, the basic scheme will be enriched with a third option:

  • 96 euros per month (equal to 1.152 euros per year) for each child after the first. In this case, the reference is to families with an Isee income of between 7 and 25 euros a year.

Naturally, the bonus is also paid if the child is adopted.

THE COST OF THE 2019 BABY BONUS

The measure has a total cost of 444 million for the state coffers, of which 204 for next year and 240 for 2020.

NON-REFINANCED BONUSES

Compared to the past, however, the are not refinanced bonus mom tomorrow and nest bonuses, which therefore only have the resources allocated by previous governments, amounting to 232 million in 2019.
