Bonafede and migrants, the 2 M5S own goals that make Conte tremble

The Five Stars, embarrassed by the Bonafede case and by the arrival of the Mes "unconditionally", blow up the compromise reached between Conte and the Renzians on the amnesty for migrants and make the stability of the Government once again at high risk

Bonafede and migrants, the 2 M5S own goals that make Conte tremble

Yesterday's meeting between Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the delegation of Italia Viva seemed to have concluded with a truce, which had defused the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture, Teresa Bellanova, and paved the way for the regularization of migrants in the countryside, but in the evening the Five Stars blew everything up and returned the government is shaky again.

It was the hawk Vito Crimi, the current regent of the Five Stars after the step backwards by Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, who communicated on the Movement's blog that the grillini do not accept any amnesty and that the maximum they are willing to approve are permits of only one month for seasonal workers and not for all irregular migrants of which the agricultural organizations are the first to claim the immediate use in the fields in order not to screw up the harvest season. And the grillini seem to care little that even the Covid-19 emergency - and not just an elementary question of dignity and civilization - pushes for close the ghettos and clean up the places where migrants are often forced to live oppressed, especially in the South, by the illegal hiring of the fields.

But, despite the compromise reached between the minister Bellanova, IV and Pd, the mediation of the Interior Ministry and the endorsement of Palazzo Chigi, the Five Stars have for now preferred blowing everything up with the risk of seriously endangering the Conte government. Also because the amnesty on migrants was and is only the first point of the commitments that the Renzians have asked for to Conte to continue the collaboration of the Government, regarding the other points la cancellation of the controversial Bonafede rules on prescription , cancellation of all forms of welfare in the economy. Renzi wants a document written by Conte that puts the prime minister's commitments on paper and he wants it before the vote in Parliament on the no-confidence motion presented by all the oppositions (Lega, Fratelli d'Italia and even Forza Italia) against the grillino minister of the Justice, Stefano Bonafede.

Its the Bonafede case is the other thorn in Conte's side: not only because there is the no-confidence motion towards the Keeper of the Seals which, if it were ever voted even by Italia viva, would cause a government crisis after the clamorous accusations by magistrate Di Matteo to the minister and especially after the unfortunate management of the prisons, but also due to the ugly mess of the decree on the mafia announced by Bonafede himself, apparently without the knowledge of Conte and the Quirinale. To try to run for cover after the clash with Di Matteo, Bonafede in fact announced the other day in Parliament the intention to present a decree to send 140 mafiosi back to prisonBut with the risk of making them escape sooner and without taking into account the delicate balance that must be found in a matter of this kind between the powers of the magistrates and those of the executive, in compliance with constitutional principles. Result: for now Bonafede has been stopped by the premier and the decree has been frozen, but the position of the Minister of Justice remains very dangerous and the case, if not resolved sooner, risks overwhelming Conte as well.

Then, there is the month, which today should be approved "unconditionally" by the Eurogroup and which will be a boon for the government in search of resources to deal with the economic emergency, but which, in addition to some embarrassment for the premier who had ruled out its use, is intended to put in serious difficulty the Five Stars, who have always seen the Mes as smoke and mirrors and now risk having to swallow yet another toad.

This is why to say that the road of the Conte 2 government remains dotted with stray mines is an understatement.
