His body was found by a security guard in front of the building of the Emilia Romagna Region, in via Aldo Moro 50, Bologna. Maurizio Cevenini, regional councilor of the Democratic Party, died by suicide this morning. Confirmation of the find came from the Bologna police station. Inspections are still underway, but from the first indications it seems that the man threw himself from a terrace in the Region. Apparently, he had been suffering from depression for some time.
Cevenini (58 years old) was also a member of the Bologna City Council – of which he had been president – and after the resignation of Flavio Del Bono he ran for the position of mayor of the Emilian capital. Halfway through the electoral campaign, however, he had been forced to retire by an ischemia which forced him to spend several days in hospital.
