Bologna, ArteFiera from 24 to 27 January 2014

From 24 to 27 January 2014, the exhibition center of the Emilian city hosts ArteFiera, one of the major European initiatives in the genre – There are many novelties in this year's edition which will see the participation of more than 150 Italian and foreign galleries.

Bologna, ArteFiera from 24 to 27 January 2014

Lots of news from ArteFiera, the event organized by BolognaFiere, which maintains its national leadership and continues to be one of the main European fairs. The next edition will take place from 24 to 27 January 2014.

The first of the novelties is already the good news: the participating galleries, Italian and foreign, already exceed 150, with an increase of about 20% compared to the previous edition, three months after the event. The selection of artistic curators, already completed for some sections of the contemporary and modern, and also started for the New Proposals and Solo Show sectors, had to face a renewed interest from the galleries which applied for participation in greater numbers than the 'latest edition. Sign of a renewed interest in the longest-running Italian contemporary art fair which reaches its 38th edition.

The News of ArteFiera 2014

Among the many innovations of this year the opening, proposed and shared by the artistic directors, to the art of the second half of the nineteenth century, in a curatorial vision that has focused attention on the ability of many artists of the previous century to anticipate the times to come. Hence the courage to combine the XNUMXth century of the Macchiaioli, De Nittis, Boldini with the contemporary, in a vision of art that ignores and overcomes temporal and geographical boundaries.
“A closer look at the origins of what we define as modern art will broaden – say the curators – the fair's interest in galleries dealing with art from the end of the XNUMXth century and the first decades of the XNUMXth century – because there is an ideal continuity with the past that helps us understand the present”.

The consequence of this approach is also opening up to the artistic production of countries that still today constitute emerging markets, such as Eastern Europe and China, and to new sectors, such as artistic photography. Maintaining the absolute quality and originality of research as the only common denominator, Claudio Spadoni and Giorgio Verzotti, the artistic directors appointed by Bolognafiere, have opted for a greater opening of the event to the multiple sectors of artistic production precisely to respond to an audience that expresses increasingly complex needs.

FOCUS ON EASTERN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

Arte Fiera 2014 will host a Special Focus Section curated by Marco Scotini, independent curator and Director of NABA (New Academy of Fine Arts). This will be a section dedicated to the countries of Eastern Europe, a geographical area selected for 2014, whose emerging economies have given a great impetus to the art market and the cultural scene in general. At the Fair, the galleries of this vast area will be brought together in a specific sector of Arte Fiera, and extensively in the city of Bologna, the exhibition hosted at the Civic Archaeological Museum "Empty Pedestal" will present the works that have entered the patrimony of important collections private Italian companies, to document the high level of contemporary art collecting in Italy.

CHINESE ART AND COLLECTIBLES WITH BOLOGNA FIERE SH CONTEMPORARY

The Chinese contemporary art collecting market will have particular attention within ArteFiera which will collaborate in the new China edition of BolognaFiere Sh Contemporary Art, the main contemporary art event in Shanghai, organized by Bolognafiere in Shanghai from 11 to 14 September 2014. The collaboration will take the form of an exhibition at the fair dedicated to the practice of ink on paper in contemporary Chinese art with a particular focus on the avant-garde generations that have marked the last 50 years.

AUTHOR PHOTOGRAPHY

For the first time, an entire section, completely new for ArteFiera, dedicated to galleries offering photography, prints and artists' multiples. In this section of artistic photography there will be a selection of specialized galleries, recommended by the director of MIA Milan Image Art Fabio Castelli with whom BolognaFiere has signed a multi-year agreement.
Also this edition will have a very attentive eye on the enhancement of Made in Italy and, at the same time, of internationality, recognizing and proposing itself as a privileged place for exchange and knowledge. Aimed at a large number of Italian and international collectors, as is the rest of the vocation of BolognaFiere's events, of art but not only.

Alongside the large sections dedicated to Modern and Contemporary Art, the section reserved for new proposals from Eastern Europe, Arte Fiera confirms, given the success that the proposal obtained in the first edition, "Solo Show", i.e. the small monographs of large interpreters of the modern and contemporary.

Finally, "New Proposals", a section reserved for galleries that exclusively present artists born after 1979. The Euromobil under 30 Award, now in its eighth edition and promoted by the Euromobil Group, main sponsor of the event, is reserved for artists under 1983, i.e. born after 30. .

ART FAIR CONVERSATIONS AND EXHIBITIONS

The next edition of Arte Fiera will also host a series of Round Tables on the art market, with particular attention to its financial aspect and artistic creation in the countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, China and of course Italy. Leading exponents of the international art world will give life to debates on the diffusion of Italian art in the world.

ART CITY. In collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna Department of Culture, ART CITY will be re-proposed, the intense calendar of initiatives created by the director of the MAMBO Museum of Modern Art of Bologna Gianfranco Maraniello which will characterize the art places of the city for all the days of the event . Saturday night will then traditionally be dedicated to the proposals of Bolognese commercial and cultural operators, with the Art White Night which every year attracts tens of thousands of people to Bologna for the White Night of Art which this year will be a little more magical.
