Electricity and gas bills, rates in sharp decline in the next three months

Good news for businesses, but above all for families. The winter that has just ended was rather mild, with temperatures above the average, characteristics which, together with the trend of the raw materials market at an international level, have favored a sharp drop in electricity and gas tariffs for the next three months.

This was announced by Arera, the Regulatory Authority for Energy Networks and the Environment.

Going into detail, in the second quarter of 2019, for a typical household, electricity tariffs will drop by 8,5% while natural gas tariffs will drop by almost 10% (9,9% to be precise.

“The reductions are mainly linked to the contraction in the prices of raw materials in the national and international wholesale energy markets, explains Arera.

As far as electricity is concerned, the update, effective as of April 12,22, is driven by a sharp drop in the component covering electricity procurement costs (-3,72%), partially reduced by an adjustment of the general charges (XNUMX%).

For natural gas, the trend is determined by the reduction in spending on raw materials (-10,5% on spending by the typical household), linked to the seasonal prices expected in the wholesale markets in the next quarter, slightly offset by small adjustments in general charges (0,41%) and other components connected to the transport and management of the meter (0,15%).
