The Japanese economy will return to growth as early as the third quarter, continuing along the path of recovery already undertaken. This is assured by Haruhiko Kuroda, governor of the Bank of Japan, according to which private consumption has remained solid, despite the increase in taxation from 5% to 8% decided last April.

As regards the trend in consumer prices, Kuroda added that inflation is expected to accelerate starting from the second half of the current year and that in no case is a drop below the 1% threshold conceivable .
