Boeing and Lion Air have placed an order for 201 737MAX and 29 Next-Generation Boeing 737-900ER airplanes. The initial agreement, already announced in Indonesia last November, also includes purchase rights for another 150 aircraft. With 230 aircraft, at a list price of $22,4 billion, this deal represents the largest order signed by Boeing throughout the company's history, both by value and number of aircraft.
“The 737 MAX is the best choice for Lion Air and the best aircraft to serve our passengers,” said Rusdi Kirana, founder and president of the company. “We are thrilled to be the first in Asia to fly the 737 MAX and, globally, to be a 737 MAX 9 launch customer.
