Boeing lays off Ad Muilenburg after 737 max crisis

Resignations that know of dismissal. dennis Muilenburg is no longer the CEO of Boeing, American aerospace company. Interim CEO will be Greg Smith, while from January 13 the leadership of the US giant will pass into the hands of the president Dave Calhoun.

Muilenburg has stepped down as CEO and member of the board of Boeing effective immediately. The news came via a press release from Boeing which reads that the company's board of directors “decided that a change of leadership was needed to restore confidence in the company while working to repair relationships with regulators, customers and all other interested parties”.

Under the new leadership, Boeing will operate with a renewed commitment to full transparency, including effective and proactive communication with the FAA, other global regulators and its customers.

Boeing is facing a major crisis due to the 737 Max following the two plane crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia which caused the death of 346 people. Last Friday, Starliner, Boeing's new space capsule, flopped, going wrong orbit and failing to dock with the International Space Station, as planned. Last week, Boieng will also suspend production of 737 Max from January. In March, all planes were grounded after it emerged that the crashes had been caused by a problem with an anti-stall system typical of that new aircraft model.

After the CEO's (forced) farewell, on Wall Street, the Boeing stock travels sharply higher, gaining 2,8% to $337,45.
