Bocconi: a conference in memory of Professor Andrea Gilardoni one year after his death

It was held today, in the Gobbi auditorium of theBocconi University of Milanthe conference"Local public services and ecological transition: innovation, circularity and change management", organized in memory of Professor Andrea Gilardoni, president and founder of Agici Finanza d'Impresa, director of the magazine "Management delle Utilities e delle Infrastrutture" and professor of Economics and Business Management at the same Milanese university, as well as one of the founding members of FIRSTonline.

One year after his death, his colleagues and friends, together with the University to which he dedicated his entire academic life, wanted to remember his work. Considered a point of reference at national level in the energy, infrastructure and public services sector, Andrea Gilardoni was remembered by the speakers for his great passion, for his knowledge of the world of utilities and for his ability to anticipate the requests and the dynamics of a constantly evolving market.

ANDREA GILARDONI: THE MEMORY OF CHIARA'S DAUGHTER AND PROFESSOR PERCOCO

"Throughout his life, my father was a very concrete man and this was also reflected in his studies, always deeply anchored in reality - he said Clare Gilardoni, managing director of Agici – The goal was to outline the development trajectories for the creation of value, providing useful indications to businesses and public decision-makers to deal with changes. Studies on infrastructural development as a lever for economic growth, on the role of energy efficiency and renewables to mitigate dependence on unstable countries and on the aggregation of companies to better compete on the market, are today even more topical than ever. My commitment in Agici will be to ensure that his work and his approach are carried out with the passion and determination that have always characterized him, in work and in private life ".

Marco Percoco, director of the Green research center and professor at Bocconi University, added: “Andrea was an amiable colleague, with great experience and clear vision. At the beginning of Green's adventure he was a sort of guardian angel; he spared no advice, lectures, discussions, and what is now our research center, we also owe to him, a pioneer of business studies on energy and sustainability. We take up his intellectual legacy seriously, but with a light heart, as he would have liked, and we look at the challenges of energy and mobility policy, today more than ever inextricably intertwined, with renewed vigour. It is necessary to understand clearly and precisely what the "costs of not doing" are in the field of renewables and sustainable mobility, an understanding, of a scientific nature, which has so far eluded institutions and even sector associations, but which is necessary to bring to the center of public debate".

In his long career, Gilardoni has also been a visiting professor at Harvard University in Boston (USA) and at the Science Policy Research Unit of the University of Sussex (UK). He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the “Impresa-Ambiente” magazine of Sole-24 Ore, of the National Agency for the Environment, of Comieco, of the Scientific Committee of the Lombardy Region for the Department of Public Utilities and Water Resources. He was also President of the Amsa of Milan, giving the start of the works for the new waste-to-energy plant in Milan.

Scientific consultant of the EEC in the field of community policies for small businesses, Gilardoni also participated in the task force of the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea in support of the identification of strategies and political priorities in terms of sustainability of the use of water resources. He founded and directed the quarterly review "Management of Utilities and Infrastructures" and economic research centers, of which he was President. Among others, the Agici Observatory dedicated to utilities, infrastructure and renewables, some of the topics that were dearest to him.

ANDREA GILARDONI: THE MEMORY OF FIRSTonline

Andrea Gilardoni we at FIRSTonline will always carry him in our hearts: not only as a scholar, interested not so much in abstract theories but in the practical application of the new frontiers of knowledge to the solution of contemporary problems especially in the field of energy – and who knows how many things he would have taught in times of energy emergency and drought – but as a person, always open to dialogue and listening, full of enthusiasm, curiosity and generosity towards others, of which his active collaboration with FIRSTonline has been a living testimony and not will be forgotten.
